PART ONE
Ethnobotany & Medicinal Uses of Cannabis:
CBD, THC and Beyond
6 Tuesdays 5 - 7:30pm, February - July 2026
In Series One, we journey into the medicinal uses and ethnobotany of cannabis, exploring practical ways to incorporate this ancient plant ally into our apothecaries. We will also explore cannabis’s sacred use across cultures and its profound role in herbal medicine throughout history.
Each class guides you through the energetic and medicinal properties of cannabis, with a focus on CBD, THC, and the many cannabinoids and terpenes that interact with the body and mind. You’ll learn how these compounds can support balance, ease tension, and awaken vitality, while developing a grounded understanding of safe and mindful use.

We will delve into how cannabis interacts with the endocannabinoid system — the body’s internal regulator of balance and harmony. You’ll explore non-psychoactive and low-dose applications for pain relief, inflammation, and nervous system support using tinctures, teas, oils, meditation, and ritual practices, discovering how cannabis can nourish body, mind, and spirit.
You’ll also discover ancient traditions that revered cannabis, from Indigenous ceremonies to Ayurvedic and Chinese healing practices. Together, we’ll explore how societies have woven this plant into medicine, ritual, and daily life — connecting wisdom of the past with modern understanding.
This class offers practical tools for preparing and recommending CBD hemp-based teas, oils, salves, tinctures, edibles, and smokes. We will also explore working with THC cannabis, with clear guidance on microdosing through full dosing, along with essential safety considerations.

Medicinal Uses of Cannabis:
Certification Option
6 Tuesdays 5 - 7:30pm, October - January
In Part Two, we bridge clinical insight, cultural wisdom, and conscious practice to empower you in recommending cannabis as a holistic support to others for their wellness and spiritual growth. In this class we will build on foundational knowledge of cannabinoids, terpenes, and safe preparation methods. Students will deepen their clinical perspective on symptom support across body systems, integrate plant spirit medicine, and refine consultation skills for compassionate, informed guidance. *** Please note each class will include homework (3-5 hours per month) for those seeking certification.
What we’ll be exploring together
Over six live sessions, you can expect to study and practice:
How cannabis modulates the endocannabinoid system and supports whole-body homeostasis (pain, inflammation, sleep, mood, immunity).
Connecting symptoms and intentions to cannabinoid and terpene profiles, including CBD, THC, and minor cannabinoids
Contraindications, precautions, and risk mitigation
Structured intake and interview skills for understanding medical history, goals, and spiritual intentions
Building personalized dosing strategies, including microdosing, titration, and routes of administration (teas, tinctures, topicals, edibles, smoking/vapor)
Ethical documentation, record-keeping, and clear scope-of-practice boundaries
Intention-setting, ceremonial preparation, and ritual use of cannabis
Case studies and practice consultation sessions
Integrating cannabis with meditation, breathwork, and somatic therapies
Herbal combinations and formulations, pairing cannabis with other medicinal plants
By the end of this class, participants will confidently assess when cannabis may be appropriate as a supportive remedy or spiritual tool. Students will formulate customized and balanced recommendations with safety and clear intentions at the forefront.
Prerequisite: Completion of Part One (or equivalent foundational cannabis medicine/introduction to cannabinoids/ethnobotany course).
