Ethnobotany & Medicinal Uses of 40 Trees

Trees have been our teachers, healers, and guides for thousands of years. They also supply an abundance of plant medicine that is available year round to harvest from the wild. From the sacred oaks of Europe to the healing neem trees of India, trees have always been at the heart of human culture, medicine, and spirituality. In this class, we’ll explore the medicine of trees, uncovering how different cultures have revered them as sources of food, medicine, shelter, and spiritual wisdom.

Over 6 class sessions you’ll learn about the medicinal uses of both common and exotic trees, discussing practical ways to work with their medicine. We will explore how to seasonally harvest and process tree bark, leaves, flowers, and roots. Each class will focus on a handful of trees, with guidance around identification, harvesting, and medicine making. You’ll learn how to make teas, tinctures, syrups, oils, and salves from the trees that surround you.

This class will deepen your understanding of the medicine and magic of trees you already know and love. We will cover over 40 trees total, including evergreens, deciduous trees, and tropical trees. Course taught by Sage L. Maurer, Director of The Gaia School. Sage has been guiding students in the medicine of trees for 25 years.
